Do I need a lawyer for mediation?

It is not required to have a lawyer at mediation, but it is recommended to do so. The mediator is not permitted to provide legal advice or advocate on your behalf, they must remain neutral. You may need someone at your side who knows the law and can negotiate on your behalf.
